Ceramic Masks by Evan Oberholster for Open Studios Fish Hoek & Clovelly
As part of this dynamic group exhibition, Evan exhibited a distinctive collection of raku fired mixed media ceramic masks, each paired with intricately crafted headdresses, alongside a selection of his oil paintings of nudes.

Described by attendees as “dazzling” and “a celebration of local art,” the event successfully brought together a diverse range of artistic practices.

It was praised not only for its creative diversity but also for fostering meaningful engagement between artists and the broader community.

Notable participants included established South African artists such as:
  • Carol Hofmeyr, known for her community-based textile works and social activism through the Keiskamma Art Project
  • Sandile Cele, an award-winning ceramicist whose work merges traditional Zulu motifs with a contemporary Zulu Goth aesthetic
  • Liz Vels, whose paintings and ceramics are held in collections such as the Wits Art Museum
  • Marlise Keith, an award-winning multidisciplinary artist working in ink, collage, and embroidery to create surreal, psychologically charged imagery
  • Sue Kaplan, whose drawings and mixed media works are represented in numerous local and international private collections
  • Yda Walt, a textile artist recognised for her bold use of colour, narrative stitching, and socially engaged themes
  • Mandy Johnston, a sculptor working primarily with found materials and bronze, exploring organic and figurative forms
  • Jenny Gordon, a photographer focusing on themes of memory, identity, and place

Artists exhibiting in Clovelly were Evan Oberholster, Kyoko Kimura Morgan, Marlise Keith and Sasha Scholtz.
